Life has definitely changed for the better since Jacob's arrival. Everything people have said is true. Nothing is ever going to be the same ever again. And it's totally awesome.
Here's a little update on how things are going with our little man.
Eating
Well, this next picture pretty much sums up the first week or so of our breastfeeding experience.
Sleeping
For the most part, Jacob has been a great sleeper. After our two week appointment, our pediatrician gave us the go ahead to not wake him every three hours for feedings since he was gaining weight so well. One night, he slept from 10:30 until 3:30, and then from 4:20 until 7:00! It was like magic! We started a bedtime routine early and are hopeful that he will be a creature of habit like his Momma.
Jacob has such a great temperament and is such an inquisitive little baby. He is incredibly strong-he is already holding up his head at 3 weeks and will pick it up to turn and look around (which is pretty impressive since he has a large noggin). He loves being swaddles and being talked to, and hates being naked in any way. Baths and diaper changes rank among his least favorite activities. We still can't believe that he is ours!
My recover has gone really, really well. I actually never had to take pain medicine other than ibuprofen once I got home, and my doctor gave me the go ahead to drive and resume light activities. Breastfeeding has really helped take my baby weight off as well, even though that's the farthest thing from my mind right now! I feel so much better than I did at the hospital, that's for sure!
