Any teachers out there have any ideas on room arrangements? Help me!

I went up to my new school this week...and my classroom is already up and ready for me to move in! I haven't started moving things in yet (especially with Space Camp starting this week) but I'm a teensy bit overwhelmed at where to start...here are some of the ideas circling around in my teacher brain... Let's start with the wall that is to your left as you walk in. Now for the back wall and wall directly across from the front wall above...this wall has another whiteboard! And now for the last wall...and the one I'm having the toughest time figuring out... I REALLY want to get rid of my teacher desk in order to maximize the space in my room. My laptop has to go in that corner by the window and the class computers have to be plugged into that wall too...

It looks to be a nice sized room that is not a goofy shape. Love the cabinet and storage spaces both for the teacher and kiddos. TV and a smartboard? FH has got their act together. I think your battle plan is a sound one. Not sure about the long table in front of the white board but since you have a white board on both sides I guess I does not matter. Do you have an area planned for anchor charts?

I was planning on using the areas above the whiteboard for anchor charts, as well as the wall above the library. I'm still not sure about the long table either :). I have to get in there and play around with arrangements. I'm so used to my HUGE science room!

I'm jealous of all the board space you've got! Are those cabinets a dark teal color? Very nice!

The cabinets are a dark greenish teal actually! I am planning on doing small group arrangements I think. I definitely am thinking about getting rid of that big teacher desk since there isn't much room!

It looks like you have a great start already! You have a lot of space sometimes it just takes some adjusting... I would think about a spot you might want to hang up anchor charts or if there is away to hang some fishing line or string so that those can be displayed easily. You can buy a clothes rack from IKEA and turn it into a chart stand if that's more your thing!

Thank you! I want to hand anchor charts above the whiteboards and in the library area. I think giving up the calendar might be a good idea...I could use that board for something else! :) Thanks for reading!

Nice big classroom! I wanted to get rid of my teacher desk, too, so I used a kidney table as my teacher desk. That way, I could meet with small groups right at my desk and not need another table for that. With it also being my small group table, it forced me to keep it cleaned off and organized. Once I got my organization system down, I LOVED it!
